ARTIST STATEMENT

My work is constantly in evolution. As I grow, my art morphs and changes to reflect my life, and I tenderly embrace this state of flux.

The permanent glue that holds my work together is undoubtedly the concept of human connection. As life continues on, people grow close and grow distant, and the memories left behind hold sentiment and value. It is incredibly important to me to enjoy the moment and cherish the connections and relationships I have now, which I reflect through my artwork.

While previously I was exploring ceramic instruments as a means for connection, I am currently focused on acrylic paintings that convey the fragility of emotions during the tender months of summer. This idea has manifested itself as an exploration of color and light in order to express emotions and connections. Using my knowledge of color theory, and solving problems of process and material, I can begin to create artworks that provide meaning and closure to myself. I hope that the viewers of my artwork can empathize with it, and find the traces of friendship, love, and harmony. This connection that I hope to foster between artwork and people will always be my primary goal.
